How to Tie a Bow Tie

1. Use measuring tape to measure the circumference of your neck. Adjust the bow tie to the proper length based on the circumference of your neck.

10. Pull on the two looped ends to tighten the knot. Pull the two free ends to adjust the lengths of the looped ends. Repeat this process until the knot is tight and the ends of the tie are equal.

2. Drape the tie over your shoulders at equal length

3. Cross the left side of the tie over the right side of the tie.

4. Tuck the left side of the tie under the right side, pull tight to the neck and drape the left side over the right.

5. Holding the hanging end of the tie in the left hand, place your right index finger behind the widest part of the round section of the tie and form one half of the bow.

6. Take the left side from over your shoulder, and drape it over the bow that you just made.

9. Slowly pull the loop that was just formed by pushing the middle section of the tie through the hole. This forms the second half of the bow. The knot is now complete but needs to be adjusted.

8. Take the left side of the tie which is hanging down and bring it up to your thumb. Fold it in half and push the middle through the hole where your thumb is so that the folded middle section is hanging out of the hole.

7. Fold the two halves of the bow together. This will cause a hole to form in the back of the tie. Put your left thumb through this hole.
