Before covering the basics of the formal event attire, it is necessary to be able to identify when an event is a formal event. Key words that require formal attire are "black tie", :Black tie optional", "full dress". "formal". These events often include weddings, galas, balls, formals, and prom. However, if you cannot determine the dress code it is always better to overdress in a way that can be dressed down. This can be done by wearing a suit and tie and removing the jacket and tie if necessary.
